I had a
pretty awesome weekend! Saw the fight courtesy of Aziaya! The only time I watch
boxing is with her family. We totally fell in love with Gamalier Rodriquez, practicing
his name for a good fifteen minutes like we were planning on marrying him. He
was hot… until he got his ass whooped. The rest was pretty boring but I had a
great time, As usual. I got a shit load to talk about in terms of my life! So
much actually that I need some time getting it in order, and to understand all
of that I want to take the time to talk about……. THE MATRIX.
We are
living in some interesting times. Apparently there is a big magnetic shift that
is changing every aspect of our world. It’s changing the roles of men and
women, society, etc… if you want to find out more than research that shit! I
want to talk about the dawn of the Matrix.
The other
day I was walking through the city, on one of my many errands, when I witnessed
a woman loudly cursing a man out on the streets. He just smirked and looked
down at his phone. But, I could tell he was embarrassed. This is what people do
now a-days; they get uncomfortable and look down at their savior… the smartphone.
It’s so fucking sad. No one is courageous enough to face reality anymore. I will never
forget the first year I started college. I was so ready to meet new people!
After my first two classes I went to sit out in the quad and waited… and
waited. I know how to meet people, and at first I wasn't sure what the problem
was until I saw the Nokia in their hands. This is before Smartphones! People
were already using their phones to ignore everything back in 2000! It seems
like your whole life is now contained in a little device. I can understand the
attraction, walking around with a little, fit in your pocket computer.
It’s more
than just a phone, or the newest app. It permeates every aspect of our lives,
and it started with the idiot box…. You know, TV. How many generations grew up mindlessly
staring at the box, raised and educated by it? That’s why it’s hard for people
to question the media. That’s why FOX is King! (Come on, how can you question
the network that gave us ‘The Simpsons’?) The box is what other countries and
cultures use to define other countries and cultures. That’s why all Black
people are thugs, all Asians are smart and all White people are rich living in
Sweet Valley. But this isn't new right? And for most it’s easier just to
believe all of that crap.
I’m not
going talk shit about music, I love Music.
The internet
is really what got us. I mean talk about information overload! You want to know
about something? Google it! You want to meet people? Join an online dating
service. You want to keep in touch with someone? Facebook is oh so happy to do
that for you. Want to laugh? WORLDSTAR! I’m not here to really complain about
all of that though. I love my IPHONE6 PLUS and I love the internet. What I
don’t like is how the power that be is utilizing this technology to turn us into
zombies. You want to show your love for someone? Just send a lot of emoji’s
with hearts in em. Want to break up with someone? Just block them on
everything! You want to feel popular? Just post a cool picture or deep posts
for likes. You don’t have to do shit anymore, just sit on your misshapen ass,
hunched over your phone giving your thumbs a proper workout!
So you may
be asking yourself… or me, “Athena, what the hell does this have to do with the
matrix?” A lot of us are not living anymore, and we are allowing our cyber life
to dictate our real lives. It’s hard not to. At one point one use to say, “So
what if it looks like that on FB, that’s not how it really is.” But now we have
come to realize that this is the avenue that defines you to everyone and will
probably define you after you are gone. Your kids are going to look at what you
were up to ten years from now… maybe your grand kids will look in on you too. My
boss is definitely trying to check out my Facebook… the nerve! Instead of a guy
asking me if I am available for dating he will stalk my Instagram, and if he
sees a picture of me smiling with a handsome guy he becomes a pussy. (Yeah I’m
talking to you, think twice before you assume anything about me, I live more
offline then I do on. Don’t define me by my posts.) I feel like that last line
is so weak, but I can’t help it! I'll be the first to admit... yes I look too, what the hell do people post shit for if it isn't for you to look at it. The problem is we take it all as facts, that’s what we've come too.
I miss the
wonderful mystery of a new person… I miss that some things should never see the
light of day and yet it does. My question to you is; what will this world look
like five years from now? Fuck ten! Five years is sufficient enough to change
the world as we know it. What new technology, app, or social network will they
introduce to us to change the way we communicate with our family, friends, and
the worlds. Do you think we are truly communicating right now?
